Volvo Trucks’ ‘See and Be Seen’ initiative is focused on raising road safety awareness for cyclists in their interaction with trucks.

The exhibition was organised by the Putrajaya Road Safety Education (PRoSE) unit, which is under the auspices of Putrajaya Corporation, a local authority that administers the Federal Territory of Putrajaya in conjunction with its President Cup Quiz on Road Safety for school students. The key objective of the quiz and exhibition was to create interactive platforms which could help students increase their awareness on road safety rules, in line with Putrajaya’s Safe City Program aimed at achieving zero accident and fatality rate in the locality.

The day-long event was held in early August at the main lobby of Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya in Presint 3, Putrajaya in which Volvo Trucks rendered support by exhibiting its road safety trailer at the location to provide the students an opportunity to learn more about how to ensure their safety while on the road. More than 250 students attended the event and were exposed to Volvo Trucks’ road safety messages inside the trailer, delivered through presentations with interactive stories and simulations.

In addition to the availability of the safety trailer, Volvo Trucks also exhibited the impressive gold edition Volvo FH13 prime mover at the event. The intention here was to further emphasise awareness by giving the students an up-close look and to get a sense of the sheer size of a truck, and most importantly to understand and identify blind spots of trucks.

Reducing road accidents and creating a safer environment for all road users is one of the main agendas of the Government and this unites perfectly with Volvo Trucks’ Zero Accident goal. As such, Volvo Trucks was honoured to be invited to participate and contribute to this beneficial initiative.
