Pasir Gudang, Johor, 2nd March 2018–  PETRONAS recently hosted its annual Fleet Management Drive (FM Drive) 2018 competition for road tanker drivers and haulier organizations in advancing a safety culture in its fleet operation. This round was held at Shaziman Transport Sdn Bhd in Pasir Gudang, Johor. As part of the tradition, Volvo Trucks Malaysia supported the event by participating as an exhibitor showcasing its latest products, campaigns and services.

This year’s FM Drive competition saw participants from eight different haulier companies. The main objective of this competition was to promote safety during the day to day task of transporting flameable goods as drivers cover thousands of kilometers every day. It is important to ensure that they are outfitted with proper skills to reduce the chances of accidents during their journey.

The FM Drive is a yearly tanker driver competition which began in 2012. This event enabled the drivers to enhance their skills by pitting them against one another via different challenges in the entire competition. The challenges include parallel parking, serpentine (figure 8 including reverse direction) and others. Prizes and certificates were given to the top three winners in two categories. Majawarisan Sdn Bhd who is a key Volvo customer, saw their driver En. Rammin B. Abu Bakar winning in the overall category, bringing back home with him MYR 3,000 cash and a certificate. En. Ibrahim who is Petronas’s Managing Director stopped by at the Volvo Trucks booth and was given a tour led by Mr. Law Ah Tiong, the VP of Aftermarket. He was very impressed by the Volvo FH, especially the space of the cabin and its modern features. Volvo’s booth was flooded by drivers, customers and visitors as they were keen to know more about the Volvo Truck models, Volvo Genuine Parts, and our safety values. The team also took this opportunity to promote the current Unit injector promotion where customers woud be able to save a big percentage upon purchasing a set of 6 units.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia is also proud to be a supporter of customer events such as this and we always look forward to opportunities which give us the chance to display information, meet up with customers and drivers as well as network with key decision makers from all over Malaysia
